Joyce Weinman

Joyce Weinman, emeritus, is a highly experienced and well-respected Toronto lawyer working primarily in the area of regulated health law. She has represented various health professionals for more than two decades.

During the past 30 years, Joyce has assisted dentists, dental professionals, medical doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists and other medical professionals. She represents professionals with legal and regulatory issues, ranging from employment law (wrongful dismissals) to disciplinary matters and other litigation. She also represents patients with dental insurance claims, with dental malpractice matters, including failed dental implants. Joyce uses her wealth of experience and deep understanding of legal and regulatory matters, to assist all of her clients to resolve their unique legal issues.

Joyce focuses on malpractice, employment law and complaints and discipline matters for all health professions. Joyce has extensive experience in civil litigation, disability law, personal injury and advising and assisting health professionals through complaints and disciplinary hearings. In addition, Joyce has lectured extensively on administrative and health law matters.

Jonah Arnold

Jonah Arnold

Jonah Arnold practices health law. He has spent nearly two decades establishing and running health clinics in Ontario as a lawyer and business owner. He draws on his experience as a business owner and knowledge as a lawyer to help his clients with their legal and business needs.

Jonah also has extensive experience helping clients with regulatory College matters including complaints, investigations (ICRC matters), fitness to practice, disciplinary matters, HPARB and HSARB reviews and appeals, OHIP matters and IPC matters.

As more healthcare professionals start their independent practices, they quickly learn a knowledgeable lawyer is indispensable. Jonah gives businesses concrete legal solutions including business planning from start-up onwards, understanding and adhering to professional regulatory College practice guidelines, and creating and reviewing best practices.

Jonah helps with contentious matters such as complaints, disciplinary proceedings, and litigation. These are a few of the areas in which Weinman, Arnold LLP focuses. In addition, Jonah regularly lectures on various topics to health associations and regulatory colleges.

Jonah also maintains a practice in human rights and constitutional law. Jonah has appeared on CTV, CBC, BBC, Centre for Persian Studies, and Alarabiya among others, to talk about litigating human rights and terrorism claims in Ontario.

Jonah brings an eclectic educational background to the Weinman, Arnold LLP partnership. He combines his years of first-hand entrepreneurial experience and exposure to small, medium, and large-sized businesses to help his clients' unique legal and business concerns.

Mark Arnold

Mark Arnold, counsel to Weinman, Arnold LLP

Mark H. Arnold practices law exclusively in Civil Litigation. He is not a member of the Weinman, Arnold LLP, rather he provides consultation and legal services to the firm on an as-needed basis.

He is certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Mark has extensive experience in litigating regulatory and administrative law matters, civil disputes, commercial issues, real estate disputes, construction lien cases, personal injury and employment law matters. He has appeared as a lawyer at all levels of court.

Mark has taught Civil Trial Practice for the Law Society of Upper Canada in its former Bar Admission Course, and Constitutional Law at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia.

Mark is passionate about human rights law. He is actively involved with international human rights and issues relating to torture, including working with non-governmental organizations on law reform. Mark has successfully brought claims against sovereign states in Ontario, collecting damages for human rights violations including acts of terrorism.

Mark has appeared on CBC’s The Current (at 45 minutes) and CBC’s Cross Country Checkup (at 35 minutes) to discuss how to access compensation for victims of terrorism using Ontario courts. You may need the free CBC Listen App to queue the interview. Mark recently led a seminar about compensation for victims of terror.

In addition to a Law Degree from Dalhousie Law School in Halifax, Nova Scotia Mark, has a Master of Laws degree in commercial litigation and alternate dispute resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Mark provides his valuable specialized litigation skills to our clients as legal counsel to the firm.
