Who are our clients?
Ontario has 29 regulated health professions that are governed by an umbrella law called the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 and various health profession Acts (i.e. Dentistry Act, 1991). The Acts establish regulatory health colleges that regulate the professions and more than 300,000 healthcare professionals in Ontario, by setting the standards for skills, knowledge and behaviour of their registrants (the healthcare professionals). These colleges operate independently under the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Their primary role is to protect the public, rather than serving their members.
College proceedings against regulated health professionals are very complex and can have a serious impact on the member’s ability to practice. College proceedings are often very stressful and time consuming to the member; College’s can challenge a member’s professional integrity and ability to practice.
The lawyers at Weinman, Arnold LLP assist regulated health professionals at all stages of College proceedings and litigation. By engaging a health law firm early in the process we can effectively help you to understand your rights and duties, and how to successfully navigate College proceedings.
