Ottawa has served Iran with class action lawsuit

Lawyers for Global Affairs Canada & the Deputy Ministry of Foreign Affairs Canada issue certificate confirming service of the statement of claim on Iran.

September 5, 2020. The Canadian Government has advised, by way of official certificate, they have now served the Islamic Republic of Iran with the statement of claim in this proposed class action. This permits the claim to move forward against Iran.

A return date to court is set for October 1, 2020 to validate service of the statement of claim on the other defendants not named in the government certificate.
